The cemetery here has long been abandoned, all the grave markers have been removed and the large Oak tree that was once in the center is now gone as well.
Very few remember this old cemetery, and there is a concrete wall adjacent to the cemetery where the Park maintenance building used to be that has been confused as the cemetery location.
The coordinates are where the large Oak tree used to stand, and was the center of the cemetery.
Reviewer's note: by 1928, this site was already known as the "Old Childress Cemetery" at Fall Creek. According to "The Kingsport Times" newspaper (23 March 1928), Mrs Charles L Dickson was buried "in the old Childress Cemetery at Fall Creek." Mrs Dickson was born Sarah M Moody. Apparently the old cemetery was abandoned because eventually reinterment took place at the Oak Hill Memorial Park where there is a monument to Sarah M Moody and Charles L Dickson. State park staff can verify the location of this long-gone burial site.
