The Bridge of Craigisla carries the B954 road over the River Isla at the point where the river enters highland country and begins its ascent up Glen Isla.
The bridge is situated just under a mile into the county of Angus from the border with Perth & Kinross. It is well known for being the stop off point for travellers seeking out the Reekie Linn waterfall which is situated a few hundred yards downstream from the bridge.
The bridge's opening date is unknown, but it is thought to date back to the late 18th or early 19th century. In 1862 both approaches to the bridge were widened, but the bridge itself remains only narrow enough for single-file traffic.
It is constructed of a rubble-built single segmental arch with iron tieplate reinforcements added to the arch. There is a double bend in the road with both approaches having to turn slightly right to cross the bridge.
A picnic area on the northern bank of the river offers a close up view of the structure and it is possible if the river is not in spate to gain access underneath the arch.
