The church is dedicated to St Stephen, and is mainly an early 12th c. building. It is cruciform in design, with a nave, chancel, north and south transepts, and a western tower, surmounted by a low spire, and strengthened by stalwart buttresses. The west door is early English, but enriched with Norman zigzag moulding.

This CBM and Bolt are sited on a buttress on the west side of the church tower.
A crack is apparent in the stone work radiating from/to the bolt.
