Bei der Hartborn-Quelle handelt es sich um einen Sauerbrunnen. Den Zusatz "Sauer-" verdankt die Quelle dem sehr hohen Eisengehalt des Wassers.

Die Hartbornquelle wird schon seit der Spätantike als Mineralbrunnen genutzt.
Das Wasser verlässt die Quelle mit einer Temperatur von 9,3°C.
Es hat einen pH-Wert von 5,46 (= sauer). Die Schüttung beträgt 2l/min.
Die Einfassung wurde 1932 errichtet und seitdem mehrfach erneuert.
Die Quelle ist öffentlich zugänglich und das Wasser ist trinkbar. Es wird allerdings durch den extrem hohen Mineralgehalt nicht als "Trinkwasser" geführt.
The "Hartborn"-spring is a spring of acidulous mineral water. It is used since the late antiquity as a mineral spring.
