This Painted Barn Quilt is located at the entrance of the Aylmer Wildlife Management Area just north-east of Aylmer, Ontario.
The quilt, Bird in the Air is a reference to the 10 to 60 thousand birds that migrate through the Aylmer Wildlife Management Area every year. Birds include Tundra Swans, Ducks, Teals, Herons and Geese.
The Aylmer Wildlife Management Area was previously an air field that was used for training pilots in World War II. In addition to bird watching stations there are several walking trails. Also nearby is the Ontario Police College.
