"Wappen der Stadt Bad Münstereifel
Wappenbeschreibung:
Jahrhundert.
Das Wappen wurde vom Kölner Regierungspräsidenten am 27. März 1972 genehmigt."
Translation EN:
Coat of arms of the city Bad Münstereifel
Coat of arms description:
"Divided from gold and red, above a growing, red-armored and clad black lion, below a golden five-pointed star."
Coat of arms:
Münstereifel was one of the four capital cities of the Duchy of Jülich, to which the Jülich lion still refers today. The star is a symbol of jurisdiction. Since 1171 a court of appeal has been documented, to which market jurisdiction was transferred in 1197. The council of the city developed from this magistrate's court. The Münstereifel coat of arms was first attested in the seal of the Münstereifeler Schöffen from the 14th century.
The coat of arms was approved by the Regierungspräsident"
