In front of the current Collinsville High School stands an open brick tower approximately 18 feet high, used to display the original bell which rang out when the first school was built here in 1909.
Because of its height, no details could be determined about the bell's manufacturer or model. The mouth of the bell appears to be possibly 16-18 inches across. The wheel is also present.
On one of the brick piers of the tower are cornerstones from the original building in 1909, and the one from the school rebuilt in 1912. P.J. Duffy built the first Collinsville High School in 1909. When that school burned in January of 1912, Duffy then constructed the high school that stood in this same location until 1971.
