In der Eingangshalle des Wiener Hauptbahnhofs steht seit der Eröffnung des Bahnhofs ein Markuslöwe. Dieser Löwe wurde 1873 vom Bildhauer Josef Leimer geschaffen und war (mit 7 anderen) auf dem Dach des früheren Bahnhofs als Symbol für die Zugverbindung nach Venedig aufgestellt. Der Steinlöwe wiegt eine Tonne und ist zusammen mit dem Sockel 3 Meter hoch.

In the entrance hall of Vienna's main station stands a Markuslöwe since the opening of the station. This lion was created in 1873 by the sculptor Josef Leimer and was placed (with 7 others) on the roof of the former station as a symbol of the train connection to Venice. The stone lion weighs a ton and is together with the pedestal 3 meters high.
