This is lock number 11 on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal, known as Kinver lock. This canal is known as the Staffs & Worcs canal, pronounced Stafs and Wusts.
The canal links the Trent & Mersey canal in the north at Great Haywood junction with the River Severn at Stourport in the south.
It was opened in 1772 and is 46 miles long with 43 locks on it, all of which are narrow, single boat width locks (approx. 7’ 6”) apart from two broad beam locks at the entrance to the River Severn.
