Maybe just a 100 metres past the 'Free Standing Arch' for the Peacock Temple compound is a small rest area, before you get to the Peacock Temple proper. There, a track heads up west to a knoll where there is a gilded Buddha, with several engraved plaques, but all written in Thai.
This statue has the 'typical' pole implanted behind to support a set of concentric metal rings suspended above the Buddha's head. The gilded Buddha is sitting on a large tiled white lotus flower, which is built onto a stone base with several black marble plaques on the four sides. It is facing the road that leads to the Peacock Temple (which is only about 100 metres away).
Behind the Buddha is bushland (to the west), with a vista to further mountainous hills.
There is a separate, and probably the main statue on the hillside to the north of the Peacock Temple. Will add a picture here, but I didn't get there to get the coordinates of that much larger one!

** If anyone is able to translate the plaques, I would happily send through the higher quality pictures (1 MB JPEGs) to make it easier to read the writing. It would be very interesting to know what the history and explanation is here. **
