The ultramodern L'Hemisferic is the IMAX cinema, planetarium, and laserium of the the City of Arts and Sciences. It was designed by AIA Gold Medal recipient Santiago Calatrava and built on the old Turia Riverbed in Valencia, Spain.

L'Hemisferic was designed by the Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava, the recipient of the Gold Medal Award from the American Institure of Architects (AIA) in 2005 for his body of work. It is part of the vast City of Arts and Sciences complex that was begun in July 1996 and completed on October 9, 2005.
L'Hemisferic resemble a giant eye. It occupies an area of 13,000 m². It is located about the center of the City of Arts and Sciences, between the Science Museum and the Opera House. It was the first building if the complex to be completed, opening in 1998. Its design resembles an eye when reflected in the surrounding pool of water. This planetarium is a concrete half-sphere 110 meters long and 55.5 meters wide. A dome in the center serves as the IMAX cinema.
