Fremont Meredith Boothe was born in was then Virginia (later West Virginia) on 19 November 1854, nine years before the US Civil War began. He married Sarah Elizabeth Clevenger, and they had at least 2 children. Their son dropped the final E from their family name.

Sarah died in 1934 when Fremont was about 80 years old. He continued on until 19 June 1958, having also seen World War I and World War II. Although he died in Missouri, he is buried here in Oklahoma with his wife.
