Please note that here at Sublime Point -- as in many scenic places in the Blue Mountains -- there are many unfenced cliff edges.

The area is frequently visited by the public and more particularly by geological and geographical student excursion groups studying the geomorphology of the Sydney basin succession. An international geological excursion visited the area in 1976. The site includes Sublime Point, the base of the Triassic system rocks (Narrabeen group) and the famous geomorphic features The Three Sisters, Orphan Rock, Narrow Neck, Dog Face Rockfall (occurred 1931) and numerous waterfalls including Katoomba and Wentworth Falls.

Jamison Valley is bounded to the north by vertical cliffs up to approximately 223m in height over which plunge numerous waterfalls. The cliff line, composed of Narrabeen group sediments, is irregularly indented, with southward jutting prominences including Sublime Point and The Three Sisters. To the west a slender peninsula of Triassic rocks (Narrow Neck) separates the Jamison from the Megalong Valley. The spectacular Dog Face Rockfall provides evidence of continuing erosion of the cliff faces, in some cases leaving isolated remnants such as Orphan Rock.
