Located on the second floor as part of a large floor area devoted to World War I aircraft and memorabilia is a static display highlighting the influence Hollywood had on the war. One particular display shows a flight jacket and an authentic Oscar award. There's a small placard next to the display that reads:
The Hollywood movie The Dawn Patrol was rated as one the realistic portrayals of World War I's airmen. The movie was created twice-in 1930 and again in 1938. The 1930 version won the Oscar for Best Original Story. In the 1938 version, Errol wore this jacket while playing the role of Captain Courtney.

After reading up on John Monk Saunders I found out that he graduated from college at the local University of Washington. Unfortunately, he committed suicide by hanging himself in 1940 at the age of 42 after suffering from many years in poor health.
