The 1879 Eureka County Courthouse is located at 10 South Main Street in Eureka, Nevada. Eureka County was established in 1873 and an existing wooden building was renovated as the county courthouse. Following a major fire in 1879 which destroyed a large part of Eureka concern about the wooden courthouse resulted in the decision to replace it with a brick building. Construction began in 1879 and was completed in 1880.
There is a date of 1879 high on the building front. At the NE corner of the building is a cornerstone which appears to have been added in 1979 for the building’s 100th anniversary.
