[F] Edmond Jean Louis GUILLEMAIN était capitaine d'artillerie, ancien élève de l'École Polytechnique. C'est pourquoi son casoar et ses épaulettes de polytechnicien sont sculptés sur un canon au pied de la colonne.
Derrière la colonne et sur les côtés sont sculptés des livres pour symbolisé ses études et des boulets et une cartouchière pour rappeller son activité d'artilleur.
Il est décédé à Tours le 3 septembre 1873 dans sa trentième année.
[E] Edmond Jean Louis GUILLEMAIN was an artillery captain, a former student of the École Polytechnique. This is why his casoar and his epaulettes of polytechnician are carved on a cannon at the foot of the column.
Behind the column and on the sides are carved books to symbolize his studies and balls and a cartridge belt to recall his artillery activity.
He died in Tours on September 3, 1873 in his thirtieth year.
