When driving by this building on the corner of Wagner Street and Talent Avenue, my hunch told me this was a former gas station and had to stop and take some pictures. I then saw the mural on the side of the building which verified my hunch and depicts this service station in its heyday from between 1925 and 1935. In the mural is Jacob Newton, the owner of the service station. You can still see the original part of the building depicted in the mural which has had additions built onto it over the years.
This service station must have been a popular stop to gas up since Talent Avenue was once the original Pacific Highway from 1913-1926 and then became Highway 99 (US99). Talent has lost most of its history in buildings to fire, development and time so it is nice to see a great piece of Americana still survive today albeit in another form.
