Established in 1887, Moritz was a small town with a minimum of businesses which included a lumber yard, grain elevator, school, and grocery store, as well as a few residences.

Throughout the years since the town was abandoned in 1967, the buildings were vandalized to the point of the current owner razing the buildings to the ground. All that's left standing are the old lumber yard, which is now abandoned, and the school house, about a half mile north of the town site.

The monument which stands on the site has the begin and end date of the town.
Reason for Abandonment: Economic

Date Abandoned: 07/01/1967
