"COOK Edgar Cook, Sr., 73, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2004 in a local hospital. Mr Cook, a Jacksonville native, graduated from Andrew Jackson High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the River of Praise Worship Center in Yulee and had retired from the ¹Plumbers & Steamfitters, local #234. Edgar enjoyed hunting and scuba diving and was a member of the “ Jetty Jumpers” and the Bill Beach Judo Academy. Survivors include: his wife of 50 years, Margaret; his children and their spouses, Debra and Joe Johnson and Ed and Sue Cook, Jr.; seven grandchildren, Michele, Justin, Elizabeth, Laura, John, Bridget, and Trevor; and one great grandson, Hunter. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 27, 2004 at 10:00 AM at the chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Ave., with Pastor Larry Osborne officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday (TODAY) from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions in his memory to the American Heart Association, 2129 Univ. Blvd., W. Jacksonville, FL 32217 or the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720. Published in the Florida Times-Union on May 26, 2004."
