The Grand Forks Christian Centre is affiliated with the Fellowship of Christian Assemblies and is a separate denomination from the Assemblies of God Churches though they do share some of the same core beliefs.
The Christian Centre is a Pentecostal church with Sunday services that are spirit filled and their followers believe in the Holy Spirit.
"Grand Forks Christian Centre began in the fall of 1983 with a small group of believers who had a hunger for more of God. In January of 1984, they rented several rooms at Selkirk College for the Sunday morning service and later that year the St Johns United Church for the evening service. Rapidly the church grew. In 1986 the Highways Department Maintenance Building was purchased and the renovations began to transform the garage into the present church building.
From its beginning, the vision of the church was to be a worshiping, Bible believing body committed to developing a close relationship with God, and then making Jesus known both in our community and to the ends of the earth. The desire for this new church fellowship was to allow the Holy Spirit freedom to move through the body (not only the leadership) in healing, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, preaching and worship.
The tithe from the church was dedicated to Overseas Missions. At times the church supported as many as 12 missionary families that served in various countries: Hong Kong, India, New York, Ukraine, Russia, England, Australia, Indonesia, Latvia, Georgia, and Armenia.
Many years have passed and the church has returned to its original vision and calling.
The present leadership, which began December 1, 2011, is committed to allow the Lord Jesus Christ to be the head of Grand Forks Christian Centre and to fulfill the calling that He has for it."
