McDowell Mountain Regional Park is one of a chain of parks in Maricopa county. The park is named after nearby Ft. McDowell which was a cavalry fort in the indian wars. This park is in the upper sonoran desert. The ranger station offers visitors the opportunity to view reptiles they might not otherwise see as they travel the park. Cold drinks, snacks, protective clothing and souvenirs are also available.
Off Road Directions: The ranger station is on the McDowell Mountain Road which is paved.
