Amid an eclectic collection of machines and artefacts, this yellow painted velocipede is one of only a few small railroad artefacts in the museum's collection. Given that the Canadian Pacific (CP) was the only railroad to run into Penticton, this was most likely a CP unit. The first and only railway to make it into Penticton was the
Kettle Valley Railway (KVR), actually built by the CP. The KVR opened in 1915, running until abandonment began in 1961. Most of the KVR trackage is now a
Rails to Trails trail.
We have seen photos of velocipedes actually in use on the KVR so we'll just assume that this velocipede is a veteran of the KVR. We have no idea as to its exact age.
