Neo-Gothic brick Evangelic Church (Evangelický kostel) in Opava downtown, built in 1896–1899, houses from 1979 District archive of Opava.

Former Evangelic church in Opava, example of typical Silesian brick architecture, is also thanks to colour of used bricks known under name "Red Church (Cervený kostel)". This neo-Gothic building was built according to plan of architect Julius Lundwall by Fernand Hickel. Church was reconstructed and adapted for purposes of District archive in 1976–1979.

Interesting event from the church's history is baptism of Opava-born naturalist, artist and author of famous novel "Born Free: A lioness of two worlds (Lvice Elsa)" Joy Adamson in January 1910.
