FDC issued to celebrate the official re-opening of The Old Post Office in Tintagel on 2nd June 1971. This FDC has a standard 3p stamp on it. Several other variations exist.
"This small 14th-century yeoman's farmhouse derives its name from just after the introduction of the penny post in 1844 when it was used as a receiving station. The building has thick slate walls and a distinctively wavy slate roof. Inside, a centrally placed hall that rises the full height of the building has an open upper cruck roof. Tintagel Old Post Office was among the early acquisitions of the National Trust (1903) and the first building to be acquired in Cornwall."
