Located at the corner of Front Street and Buntton Hollow Gulch is a stone monument containing a plaque that reads:

THIS PLAQUE COMMEMORATES THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE AMERICAN LEGION. THE NATIONAL CHARTER WAS SIGNED IN HORNBROOK ON SEPT. 16, 1919 BY PRESIDENT WOODROW WILSON WHILE HIS TRAIN STOPPED ENROUTE FROM PORTLAND TO SAN FRANCISCO. PRESENTED BY ROSS NEILON POST NO. 122, DIST. 2, TREKA, CALIFORNIA.

SEPTEMBER 16, 1979

I was able to locate a book titled The State of Jefferson (link below) that contains a picture of President Woodrow Wilson's stop in Hornbrook, just feet from this commemorative plaque.

Group that erected the marker: American Legion Ross Neilon Post No. 122, District 2, Yreka, CA
