The iconic Parisian landmark looming over the city since 1889 is a main motif of the Czechoslovakian stamp issued on April 16, 1965. It is a stamp from the serie named "Czech olympic victories" where olympic medalists were reminded. "Discobolus" depicted if the foreground reminds the first Czech medalist. František Janda-Suk in the history of the Olympiads winning the silver medal in the discus throw. The Olympics games were held just here in Paris in 1900. František Janda-Suk was the first modern athlete to throw the discus while rotating the whole body. He invented this technique when studying the position of the famous statue of Discobolus. After only one year of developing the technique he gained the olympic silver.

The Eiffel Tower is famous because it was the tallest structure in the world at the time of its construction in 1889. It has since become a Paris icon and a symbol of romance. More people pay to see the Eiffel Tower each year than any other attraction in the world.
