Originally erected as a memorial to the fallen of World War One, it was unveiled on the 11th November 1921 by the Governor of Western Australia, Sir Francis Newdegate.
The memorial now contains the names of 65 soldiers who died in service or were killed in action in World Wars One and Two.
The Memorial was relocated to its present site in the memorial park in 1952 from further up the hill
