Haunted Places
The lobby of the hotel was once the scene of a shootout, with some original features of the building still retaining buckshot damage. Staff have reported the scent of cigar smoke (despite the fact that smoking is banned on the premises), whilst others have reported cold spots. A bright light has also been known to materialise here, perhaps a victim of a fight.
Room #019 is the most haunted the establishment has to offer, with a variety of ghostly occurrences being reported here. The ghost of a woman in old-fashioned garb was once seen standing at the foot of a male guests bed, whilst yet another saw her sitting in a chair watching him as he slept. A female visitor also reported a male presence that hopped into bed with her and kept her warm on a particularly cold night.
Room’s #018, #029 and #012 are all haunted by a variety of spirits, including a poltergeist that rearranges toiletries, a male presence who speaks to visitors and a ghostly female whose laughter has been heard emanating from empty rooms.
Other parts of the hotel, including the hallways and grounds are also haunted. Running footsteps have been heard in the corridors, whilst a shadowy apparition has been seen rushing into Room #009. Elsewhere, the spectre of a shivering, bedraggled man has been seen begging for assistance. When a witness tries to intervene, he disappears suddenly. It has been speculated that the man drowned in the Paluxy River, that runs behind the hotel, and is forever seeking help from passer-by’s.
