The tree is located at the edge of a public access field at Rode Heath Rise. It is situated next to Bridge 140 that crosses over the Trent and Mersey Canal from Sandbach Road at the side of the Broughton Arms.

Rode Heath Rise is an area of rural greenspace with meadows and woodlands that runs adjacent to the canal and was the site of a former salt works. The area is managed by Cheshire East Council.

The plaque is situated by a birch tree and the message inscribed reads:
