Built in 1910 and named for the many casement windows used in its construction. In 1918, it became the Winter home of John D. Rockefeller. John D. was an annual Winter resident of Ormond Beach. He normally stayed at the Ormond Hotel. One day he discovered that the hotel was charging him one dollar more than it charged the other guests. When he inquired of the excess charge, he was told it was because he could afford it.
He immediately bought the Casements across the street from the Hotel. He stayed there until his death in 1937.
The City now owns the property and it is used as a museum and meeting place. Also many wedding receptions are held at the Casements.
