„Schild von Rot und Gold gespalten, in Schildfuß belegt mit einer Krone in verwechselten Farben, vorne silberner Adler, hinten schwarzer, rotgezungter und -bewehrter Löwe
Das Wappen wurde am 15. Oktober 1971 von der Bezirksregierung Koblenz genehmigt. Der Adler weist auf die Grafen von Are hin, die von 1100 bis 1246 Landesherren von Ahrweiler waren. Der Löwe steht für die Herrschaft der Herzöge von Jülich (bis 1614). Die Krone (deutsche Kaiserkrone) ist ein Hinweis auf die Herrschaft Landskron, zu der die Stadtteile "
