Kidsgrove Urban District Council, created in 1894, commissioned the building of the beautiful Victoria Hall and adjoining offices. On 22nd April 1897, the year of the Royal Diamond Jubilee, the foundation stones were laid by Mr James Heath and John Smith with a silver ceremonial trowel. A time capsule consisting of some coins and local newspapers were placed under the stones.
The striking Tower Clock was designed by Potteries Architect, Absalom Reade Wood and cost £2,250 to build.

A major refurbishment programme took place in 2007 to repair and modernise the much loved building. As part of the renovations a new clock face was installed in 2007.

The tower has four white clock faces with roman numerals, black hands and a pattern of six diamond shapes that join at the centre.
The clock chimes on the hour.
