The plaque says, "Triangle Shirtwaist Factory (Asch Building) has been designated a National Historic Landmark. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire, in which 146 workers died, occurred here on March 25, 1911. This building possesses national significance in commemorating the history of the United States of America 1991."
