This trig point is situated 217 metres high on Drumcarrow Craig, a prominent landmark in this part of Fife due to the telecommunications mast that also sits on its summit. The hill is south-west of St.Andrews and reached by minor roads, one of which skirts the hill to its south. Being the highest point in this area, the views are extensive, covering most of eastern Fife and the North Sea coast, with on a clear day, views north over Angus and Perthshire towards the Grampian Mountains. The pillar itself is showing wear and tear, with a crack along its flank.
STEEPNESS: Very little, the starting point from the south is only 50 metres lower than the summit and the track avoids the direct route, taking a longer but less steep route up to the top.
TERRAIN: A slightly rutted, but good track goes all the way to the TV mast a few yards east of the pillar.
ACCESSIBILITY: A minor road passes within a quarter of a mile of the summit heading for Drumcarro Farm. There is space for a vehicle near the start of the track.
NAVIGATION: The hill is easily spotted from a distance due to the ariel on its top. In mist the pillar is due west of the end of the track which snakes its way up to the top. A cairn sits further west of the trig marking the actual summit.
DANGER: None apart from a ramshackle electric fence between the mast and the pillar which is easily crossed. The track avoids all of the craggier parts of the hill.
