The birthplace of J. M. Barrie is situated on Brechin Road in Kirriemuir. He was born here on May 9th 1860, the 9th child of a weaver. He would spend the first eight years of his life here. The house is a simple two storey construction now managed by the National Trust of Scotland. The ground floor has been much altered, but the upper has been restored. The house next door has been turned into a museum called The Genius of J. M. Barrie.
