Originally the burial grounds for the Albert Tatum (1810 - 1870) family, the cemetery is on the site of his rose garden. The first burial was of his son William in 1862. Tatum's son Paul (1848-1914) and donor of the Tatum town site is interred in the cemetery.

Paul "Uncle Fox," Tatum deeded this site in 1914 for use as the town's cemetery, which is still active.
