This triangulation pillar is situated on the 259 metre Carrot Hill in the eastern part of the Sidlaw Hills which form a barrier to the north of Dundee. Being the final high point of the range before gradually dropping to the coastal plain to the east, the trig commands an excellent view both north towards the Grampian Mountains and south to Dundee and Fife.
STEEPNESS: Reasonably gentle climb up from the car park.
TERRAIN: Formerly covered in forest, the route has now been extensively cleared with a well constructed path.
ACCESSIBILITY: A minor road crosses the eastern flank of the hill and a car park is situated around half a mile to the north-east.
NAVIGATION: The path heads in a general south-westerly direction, bear right at a fork near to the summit.
DANGER: No difficulties other than the occasional rutted section of path.
NB: This pillar replaced one constructed in 1948, FB: S4603.
