In the North Elba village of Lake Placid is this dam dedicated to Jack Barry.
The dam is located in a park area along the Chubb River. Access is available from Averyville Road. Access to the other side of the pond above the dam is available off Dow Street.
The dam is a cement and stone dam with a vertical lip, then a sloping surface for the water to cascade down. The total height is estimated to be about 12 ft. There is a wooden building on the other side of the dam - not sure if that is the old mill or something related to the dam. The opening at the foundation hints that it may be a boathouse. Downstream, the river flows through more of Lake Placid/North Elba. Upstream, above the mill pond created by the dam, the river is more rural.
