EN: The niche fountain at Spalenberg is the largest of its kind in Basel. The house above it is supported by two large pillars. The fountain has a main basin which occupies the entire width of the niche, and two smaller basins on the sides. The fountain was built in 1839. The mural depicting John the Baptist was created in 1919 by Numa Donzé.
DE: Der Nischenbrunnen am Spalenberg ist der grösste seiner Art in Basel. Das darüber liegende Haus wird durch zwei grosse Säulen abgestützt. Der Brunnen hat einen Haupttrog, die ganze Breite der Nische einnimmt und zwei kleinere Nebentröge an den Seiten. Der Brunnen wurde 1839 erbaut. Das Wandbild zeigt Johannes den Täufer. Es wurde 1919 von Numa Donzé erschaffen.
