In Saranac Lake, at Riverside Park by Saranac Lake, is a pair of granite statues of teddy bears enjoying Saranac Lake.
The statues are located right by the shore, in a park at the intersection of Main Street and River Street.
The bears are separate installations about 15 ft apart. One is about five feet tall, while the other is about 3 ft. They are primarily made of granite, while the larger one has a portion of a fishing pole made of metal embedded in it. The larger bear is wearing a fisherman's jacket. The smaller bear sports a bucket. On both bears, the eyes, nose, and paw pads are a different color from the other parts of the sculpture.
The bears are the creation of Jerry Williams of Montpelier, VT, who has a studio in nearby Barre. He has several installations, often up to 10 ft tall in locations as far as Dallas, Texas.
