A 5.5' bronze sculpture of a nurse was created by Art Moses and installed on the grounds of the Baystate Medical Center in 2001. The female figure is dressed in a nurse's uniform and standing in a landscaped circle surrounded by concrete pavement. She is holding are arms, with her elbows bent at waist level. She is clutching a book to her right forearm with her right hand.
A sign adjacent to the sculpture is inscribed:

A Legacy of Excellence 1892 - 1999
Our nurses have provides exceptional nursing care since the first
student was accepted into the program on May 18, 1892.
During World War II, 111 Springfield Hospital nurses joined
Cadet Nurse Corps and served with honor.
With a commitment to scholarship and service, these nurses
created and everlasting tradition of excellence and compassionate
care that is their legacy.
With pride and affection, the Baystate Nurses Alumni Association
dedicated this statue on May 10, 2001 to the 2,906 graduates of the
Springfield Hospital/Baystate Medical Center School of Nursing.
