The Eugene Solar System Model was a father-son project. They decided to use a scale of 1:1 billion, making the diameter of the earth about 1/2 inch and the distance of Pluto (then considered a planet) about 3.7 miles from the Sun. At this scale Jupiter is 0.48 miles from the Sun.

The Sun and the four small inner planets are located in Alton Baker Park. The outer planets are located along the South Bank Trail beside the Willamette River.

Jupiter is the largest planet and fifth from the sun, almost 5 times further from the Sun than the Earth. It takes Jupiter 12 years to revolve around the Sun.
