John Michae Thomas, a sophomore at Bishop Moore Catholic High School, launched a fundraising project to create a memorial to Buckley at the rose garden in Central Park — a sculpture of a peacock, one of Buckley's favorite animals. The bronze peacock sculpture, one of 12 sculpted by British artist Lloyd LeBlanc — and the only one in America — would require him to raise $50,000. A plaque on the fountain honors her kindness and personality and references the Owl City song "Shooting Star," the background music for the slide show John Michael made for Elizabeth's remembrance ceremony.
