Autrefois, les cheminée avec un intérieur en béton étaient très prisées des martinets ramoneurs. Avec le temps beaucoup de ces cheminées ont été soit bouchées, soit qu'on a installé une chemise (sleeve) de métal à l'intérieur ou tout simplement détruit ces cheminées-nichoirs.
Dans le but de remplacer ces cheminées, on a installé cette cheminée dans l'environnement du Marais de la Rivière aux Cerises.
