The Bamberg Rose Garden was designed in the style of an antique Roman garden. Part of the design are statues of Roman deities, sculpted by Royal sculptor Ferdinand Dietz in 1761.

One of the statues depicts Venus, the Roman goddess of love, beauty, fertility, prosperity, victory, and desire and the mother of all Roman people.

The planet Venus, the planet closest to Earth, is named after the goddess.
