Bookout Cemetery, AKA Dermott Cemetery, is a short distance off the US84W outside of Snyder. Take Scurry Co. Rd 2137 .63 miles to the next dirt road heading east-west (Scurry Co. Rd 2137). Turn right (east) and go .15 miles to the cemetery on the right.
There is a cache here to find as well.
We estimate there are around 200 people buried here, and the cemetery is still in use, even though the town of Dermott itself died in the 1950s.
Obviously, families for whom this is a burial ground for loved ones pitched and and either made this decorative arch or commissioned it from a local ranch gate welding company.
