Back before the start of development of Lehigh Acres in the 1950’s this sinkhole was thought to be just a circular lake, known by such names as Still Lake and Still Hammock Lake back in the 1940’s. More recently it has been known by such names as Leeland Lake, Lehigh Lake, Lehigh Sink and Lehigh Spring.
Today it is referred to by Lehigh Spring (sinkhole) due to the fact that it is an actual sinkhole with a depth of approximately 208 feet. In fact it has it’s own blog at lehighspring.blogspot.com
This sinkhole is approximately 400 feet in diameter and estimated to be 14,000 years old. It is located on private property and the coordinates were taken from the Lehigh Resort Club. The Lehigh Resort Club is located at 231 Joel Blvd., Lehigh Acres, FL. 33936 Resort staff request that you get permission before going on their property to log a waymark. Web site is thelehighresortclub.com Phone number 239-369-8597 or 239-368-2022.
