Located in the pages of Wisconsin, A Guide to the Badger State was a photo taken from this very street corner on Main Street in La Crosse. The original photo can be found in the photo inserts found between pages 280 and 281 and is titled "Street Scene, La Crosse". The city of La Crosse is considered the largest border city on Wisconsin's Western border. The first settlement in La Crosse was in 1841, 100 years before the photo in the American Guided Series was taken. Today the photo is near the same with just the Radio Building being tore down and the old church steeple in the background replaced with a new one.
