In Ticonderoga, within the grounds of the Fort Ticonderoga Museum, is this historical sign about an aspect of the American Revolutionary War.
Fort Ticonderoga Museum includes a rebuilt Fort Ticonderoga and staffed with people in dress, telling stories related to the fort and demonstrating life at the fort. To get there, from the center of the village of Ticonderoga, go east on New York Route 74 for about a mile. Just after the railroad crossing, turn right on the access road to the museum. After paying the admission fee, go to the parking lot at the fort, then go on the exit road out. The marker is along this road about a quarter mile down.
The sign has the following text:
"Hut Sites
With in a radius of one-half mile were 150 huts occupied by American Troops in the Revolution 1775-1777"
I could not find any reference that showed what one of these huts would have looked like. One reference indicated that it might have been small wood-framed building with a peaked roof. The following references from the fort museum site discuss the huts.
