"Auf dem heutigen Dachauplatz, der an die Opfer des Konzentrationslagers Dachau erinnern soll, wurden am 23. April 1945 der Domprediger Dr. Johann Maier, der Gendarmerie-Hauptwachtmeister Michael Lottner und der Lagerarbeiter Josef Zirkl bei einer Kundgebung, die für die kampflose Übergabe der Stadt an die Amerikaner plädierte, verhaftet. Lottner wurde bereits am Nachmittag erschossen, Maier und Zirkel hängte man in der Nacht um 3.25 Uhr. Ein Steindenkmal von Richard Triebe erinnert an die Opfer."
